SustainabilityToday, increasingly pressing global problems such as the wasteful use of resources, the exploitation of workers and environmental degradation are of relevance also in the context of investments.
To meet these challenges, sustainable investment applies not only the fundamental criteria of financial analysis but also adds ecological, social and ethical considerations.
Selecting issuers with a viable future
Investments of this kind make sense not only for altruistic and moral reasons. Adding social and ecological, sustainability-driven criteria to the tried-and-tested investment process helps to develop a more comprehensive understanding of the risks associated with an investment.
Gutmann sustainability funds invest exclusively in securities issued by sustainable issuers. According to Gutmann Kapitalanlageaktiengesellschaft, these are issuers that pursue environmentally and socially responsible policies. No investments are made in issuers that engage in socially or environmentally reckless conduct, disregard fundamental rights or make or accept "harmful" products. This applies equally to governments, public financial institutions, covered bonds, and companies.
Gutmann Nachhaltigkeitsfonds have been awarded the Austrian eco label (“Österreichisches Umweltzeichen”).
The investment process in brief
The Austrian eco label guarantees that products and services are environmentally friendly.
The label stands for quality of life and the environment, clear and transparent information, environmental policies pursued by responsible businesses and organisations, and collaboration at a high level. The sustainable funds of Gutmann Kapitalanlageaktiengesellschaft are entitled to carry the eco label.
The Austrian Federal Ministry of the Environment has awarded “Österreichisches Umweltzeichen” (the Austrian eco label) to Gutmann Aktien Nachhaltigkeitsfonds (an equity fund with a focus on sustainable investment), Gutmann Euro Anleihen Nachhaltigkeitsfonds (a euro bond fund with a focus on sustainable investment) and Gutmann Euro Short Term Anleihen Nachhaltigkeitsfonds (a euro short term bond fund with a focus on sustainable investment) in recognition of the fact that their stock, bond and fund share holdings were selected by applying not only economic but also ecological and social criteria. The Austrian eco label guarantees that these criteria and their implementation are appropriate for selecting stocks, bonds and fund shares. This has been verified by an independent organisation. The award of the Austrian eco label is neither an economic assessment nor an indicator of the future performance of a financial product.
